Specialist Tree Surgery & Tree Maintenance

Tree Consultancy

Ray Tree Care & Training provides expert advice and reports covering health & safety, risk, tree condition and general management of trees. A Tree Report involves the survey of all relevant trees and helps our clients to regularly assess the condition and risk of their trees. A tree owner has a legal duty of care to maintain all their trees and it is prudent to make sure all trees are regularly assessed and evaluated to identify potential hazards.

We offer professional Tree Reports that enable our clients to minimise potential hazards of damage or injury caused by trees in their care. All Tree Reports are carried out to the most up-to-date standards.BS:5837:2012.

Dangerous Tree Removal

When an unsafe tree becomes a hazard to property or the public it needs to be removed/felled. Removing dangerous or dead trees in a confined space is a specialised task. Our staff at Ray Tree Care & Training are highly skilled and qualified in this area. We use the most modern professional techniques which adhere to safety standards BS at all times.

Tree Maintenance

Trees are remarkable in their ability to self-repair when subjected to trauma. However, even with this amazing ability trees will eventually fail, die and fall. Tree ownership brings with it the responsibility to manage each tree.

General observation and treating problems quickly can prevent potential hazards from happening and help the overall condition of your tree. Remove a tree when its risk to property and the public outweighs its value. At Ray Tree Care & Training we can discuss the best possible options for your tree.

Common types of pruning are crown reduction, crown thinning and crown raising.

Crown Thinning

Crown thinning is the removal of a selected proportion of secondary and small branch growth throughout the crown. This promotes a balanced structure and even density of foliage that permits increased levels of light to filter through and reduces the tree’s wind resistance.

This can improve the resilience of a structurally damaged tree. This is beneficial to homeowners in an urban area.

Crown Reduction

A crown reduction is a complete reduction of the crown of the tree, which reduces the overall volume of the tree. Crown reduction is usually carried out when a tree has outgrown the space it stands in. However, removing the outer crown to produce a smaller canopy is a specialised job. Branches should be removed to safety standards BS3998.

Crown Raising

The crown of a tree is raised when the lower branches of a tree are removed to raise its profile from the ground. This is normally done to increase an access route and allow light to filter through.
